Let us assume that you, the average IIT JEE aspirant, are the struggling mechanic in the proverb. With the tools of your craft rusty, can you expect to get anywhere close to your dream? And yes you guessed it right. The tool here of course refers to your mind. With a brain that lacks agility one cannot aim at a goal as high as an IIT education. One needs to exercise his/her mind enough to face the tricks and intricacies that characterize the questions of IIT JEE.

“Early bird catches the worm.” It is a very apt proverb for IIT JEE preparation. It is always better to start your IIT preparation early than to regret later when you are low on time, with huge piles of syllabus to cover, and XII board examinations right around the corner. ‘Early’ however is a relative word, and having mentioned it in the discussion, the best thing to do would be to clarify it. This discussion is in no way trying to justify the practice of slogging young children right from 7th or 8th standards in the name of IIT JEE preparation.

Even with numerous fields of studies and professional courses springing up in the recent years, the pursuit of an IIT-dream has still not taken a back-seat for an average Indian student. The resonating echo of the question 'How to crack IIT' is not ready to fade out yet. IITs still remain the most sought after institutes by the school students or students just out of school and aspiring to become Engineers. The practical fact however is: the 16 odd institutes can accommodate only about 2% of the total number that appear for the entrance exam.
